Transport from your home address to your working place in Norway is normally arranged and paid by the employee. It is important to plan with good margins and also expect some delays. Arrival time is normally one day ahead of the starting date of the working contract - giving you some time to settle in.

The employee is under Norwegian Social Security and health care during the working period, but the Norwegian Social security only covers the actual contract period, not the travelling days. UNICjob advice the employee to have a valid European Health Card or apply for such a card immediately.
UNICjob will also strongly advise the employee to have a travel insurance for the travel period to and from workplace in Norway. It is the employee’s responsibility to arrange such travel insurance or give instructions to UNICjob if such insurance should be booked with the tickets. Because of possibilities for misunderstandings we depend upon the employee to check the tickets if such travel insurance have been booked according to instructions. Such travel insurance is to be fully paid by the employee. UNICjob can therefore take no responsibilities for loss of baggage, stolen goods, delays, illness or accidents, whatsoever during the travelling period or working period.
Normally the employee will be met at the nearest bus stop / train station / airport upon arrival at the final destination. However, delays may occur and we always supply both the employee and the contact person at the destination with contact details and phone numbers.
Accommodation is arranged by the hiring company at the work place. This can be a single or a double bedroom and normally this is informed and agreed upon when signing the contract. It is also normal to share a bathroom / WC with other employees and in some cases there are living room and small kitchen available. But the standard, size and cost of the accommodation can differ from workplace to workplace and also within the same place. UNICjob will try to give as much information as possible on this, but it is not possible to keep everything updated on all places at all times. The employee will cover the cost of the accommodation and the price normally includes also electricity, heating and Wifi. The cost of the accommodation differ and range from NOK 2.000 – 5.000 per month. UNICjob does not take any profit or commission whatsoever on the accommodation.
At some places meals are given in the local company cantina where the employee will pay a small amount for each meal or if there is a kitchen available, the employee can choose to buy your own groceries and prepare the meals by yourself. Prices on groceries are normally quite high in Norway compared to the rest of the EU.
