Social security
UNICjob is paying payroll tax for all employees to the Norwegian Tax office. All of our employees are therefore members of the Norwegian National Insurance scheme and are entitled to sickness benefits according to Norwegian legislation and pension system in the same way as all other Norwegians.
While working in Norway, you will not be part of your home country´s social security system.
Having a valid European Health Insurance Card is recommended to ease any situation that may occur related to medical issues.
The old age pension is arranged in Norway at the age of 67. However, for EU citizens you have to work in Norway for a total period of 1 year (12 months), in order to be able to receive pension. The pension is regarded as taxable income.
UNICjob has a separate Workman’s Compensation Insurance (Norsk yrkesskadeforsikring) as an addition to the Social Security system. This special insurance is not an insurance on goods or to be used if an accidents happens or problems related to travel, but it gives you compensation in case of an injury at work that leads to a handicap that makes you not being able to work 100% in the future. So it is an insurance giving compensation for future loss of income or costs related to a work injury normally not payable by the Norwegian Social Security system (NAV).
